One of the main drawbacks of battery-electric vehicles is their short driving range compared to their gasoline or diesel powered counterparts. In an effort to overcome this dilemma, Volvo is initiating development of a hydrogen fuel cell that is expected to increase electric cars' driving range by up to 155 mi. The Leaf by comparison runs approximately 100 mi. per charge.

Volvo Testing C30 Electric Car

Electric cars are all the rage right now and Volvo has been working hard on producing an all electric version of the C30 hatchback.  The Swedish auto maker will be providing 10 of these cars to Göteborg Energi this fall, part of a partnership for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.

The Swedish home electric company, Göteborg Energi, will be conducting test runs with the C30 before the cars can be publicly released.
