Volvo cars have a reputation for quality, as well as performance. The foreign auto maker is looking to "polish" their image and add luxury. A move to wards fresh designs, along with better fuel economy, is on the way.
Several vehicles, including a completely original mid-sized car, will hit Weston Volvo, located at 3650 Weston Road in Davie, FL 33331, by 2014. It will be a replacement for the current Volvo XC90 model.
Vehicles will implement Volvo's next generation of smaller four-cylinders. The company will work on phasing out their 5-and-6-cylinder vehicles in favor for greener, turbocharged once, as well as hybrid and plug-in variants.
Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volvo Car Corp., says with the price of gasoline and fuel economy regulations, "engine displacement no longer will be linked to luxury. The time for counting cylinders is over."1
He added that a diesel plug-in hybrid is in development, and will achieve an EPA combined rating of 123 mpg, while producing 440 lb-ft of torque. More on Volvo's latest plans will be presented, along with concepts, at the Detroit Auto Show (aka, North American International Auto Show) in January, 2012.
